Tim Truebner, Staff Reporter
My name is Tim Truebner. I am a sophomore, and this will be my first year on the Rockhurst newspaper staff. I was persuaded early in my freshman year to take this class after my brother told me that writing for the school newspaper will change how I write for years to come. After my sister got an academic scholarship for journalism to Elon University in North Carolina, I was instantly sold.
Unlike my two siblings I have not had a rich history in the art of journalism as I have only taken one class for broadcasting. Although I am new to the “industry,” I believe that this is something I could really thrive in, which is another reason I was eager to join this class.
Besides being involved in the newspaper, I work at a pool in Prairie Village, Kan. during the summer. I work there with my brother, sister and a whole bunch of other friends. Other than work, I play lacrosse for Rockhurst and a summer lacrosse program called “Top Gun Midwest.” For those two teams I play goalie, which isn’t too bad after you get used to getting peppered all over with hard rubber balls.
My goals for the future are to improve my writing skills and to letter in lacrosse.
