Rock Shop Flies Mainly Online

The Rock Shop is now only open two days a week. You can still buy things online, and they will be delivered to the school.

As many students have noticed, the Rock Shop has been closed for most of the school year. Aside from Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., the Rock Shop sits unoccupied. This is because at the end of the 2021-22 school year, Rock Shop coordinator, Melissa Reichmeier, retired, and with her went the always-open campus store.

“When [she] retired at the end of last school year, we looked at various options related to the Rock Shop,” said Alan Roberson, Rockhurst’s Vice President of Administration/Chief Financial Officer. “We determined that there has been a shift in consumer behavior to embrace digital commerce and we’re all shopping more online.”

Hence, the Rock Shop has moved to a primarily online platform. Moving primarily online not only supports the consumer shift to “embrace digital commerce,” but it also allows for a “larger variety of product offerings and customization to our students and families, [and also] more effective inventory and cost management,” said Roberson.

Anyone wishing to order any products, you can visit the Rock Shop Online and place an order during an order cycle, which will be open on various cycles throughout the year and will last approximately two weeks. After the order cycle has ended, you will receive a receipt and an estimated timeframe for delivery of the order within 15 to 20 business days. Once your order has been delivered to Rockhurst, you can pick it up from Rockhurst on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Also during this time, you can still shop in person, and the stadium Rock Shop will remain open for every varsity home football game.
